How email verification works
Sending to addresses that do not exist produces bounces, and a high bounce rate hurts how mailbox providers see you. Verification tries to find those addresses before you send.
1. Syntax check
The first step confirms the address is written correctly: one @ sign, a valid domain, no illegal characters. It catches typos but proves nothing about whether the mailbox exists.
2. Domain and MX lookup
Next the verifier asks DNS whether the domain exists and which servers accept its mail (MX records). A domain without mail servers cannot receive email.
3. SMTP check
Finally the verifier connects to the mail server and starts a delivery conversation without sending a message, to see whether the server accepts the recipient. Some servers accept everything (catch-all) or refuse to answer, so the result is a probability, not a guarantee.
What to do with the results
Remove addresses that are clearly invalid, treat risky ones carefully, and keep verifying older lists before a campaign. Our Email Verifier performs these checks in bulk.
